About Rise for Ratby

Welcome to ‘Rise for Ratby’, your Community Engagement Group.

Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Phil Tenwick. My wife Paula and I have lived in Ratby for over 23 years and consider the village our home. I am currently the Chair of the Ratby Parish Council and the founder of Rise for Ratby.

I care deeply about our village and community. Having lived in the suburbs of London, I appreciate the surrounding countryside and its positive impact on our physical and mental well-being. I am dedicated to preserving our village status and fostering strong community ties.

The Rise for Ratby Group was officially established on August 22, 2024, at a public meeting at St Philip & St James Church, Ratby. The meeting was held in response to public consultation processes by Lagan Homes and Hinckley & Bosworth County Council regarding proposals for the development of houses on the land west of Ratby, known as the Burroughs.

During the meeting, there was a strong sense of unity as people came together to voice their concerns and protect their village and community. This prompted me to gauge the level of interest in forming a volunteer group. I was overwhelmed by the response, with over 50 residents signing up on the night.

It is important to stress that the group has been set up as an independent group, wholly owned by the Ratby community and free from political influences or bias.

This group will enable us to come together to address threats to our village and our quality of life. It will also allow village groups and organisations to communicate and reach a wider audience through the website/portal.

Our aim to get as many residents subscribed to the website as possible, in order to keep residents fully updated and involved in any planning applications or issues that pose a threat to our village and community.

There is still much work to be done, and I promise to keep everyone updated on any new developments. Be sure to register your name and email address to receive regular group updates.

Phil
