Lagan Homes latest consultation update.

We are aware that some residents have received letters from Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council to advise of another consultation process for the Lagan Homes outline application for 470 houses on the Burroughs ref: 24/00914/OUT.

Under planning legislation the council only needs to put up notices near the planned development and write to residents nearby. We together with the Parish Council and Borough Councillors have met with the planning department to get an update on the overall status of the application and to raise a number of concerns and additional objections on behalf of the village, all of which is documented in the copy of letter we have sent them following the meeting.

I hope this helps in better understanding the work that has been going on and the overall status of the application. Indications are that the application will likely go before planning committee late Spring 2026, we will however continue to press on the issues and actions called for before that happens.

The Parish Council also submitted additional objections to the application in December 2025, and a copy of that letter can be found on this web site under the heading “Useful Documents”

Bloor Homes – consultation now open on 180 houses off Sacheverell Way

Have your say on plans for a new neighbourhood of high-quality family and affordable homes in Groby.

Please be aware that this has been added in the HBBC Local plan as additional housing and whilst this is the parish of Groby it will have a significant impact on Ratby in terms of increased traffic levels, increases in noise and pollution and will blur the boundaries between the two villages. Residents can submit their views on this proposed development as detailed on the form below, closing date for submissions is 30th November 2025

Lagan Homes – Planning Application update

Just a quick update for everyone, as things have been quiet for a while. The Lagan Homes planning application for 480 houses on the fields either side of Burroughs Road has still not yet gone before the HBBC Planning Committee and therefore remains undecided.

Thanks to our ongoing collective efforts, we believe that over 3,000 objections have now been submitted — a fantastic response. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to submit a letter or form of objection.

If you haven’t yet submitted an objection, it’s not too late to do so. Completed forms can be dropped in to the Parish Office, the Post Office or the library, and we will submit them for you.

Residents can also send objections direct by downloading the form or scanning the letter and sending it by email to alex.jelley@hinckley-bosworth.gov.uk. Or you can post your letter direct to Alex Jelley, Planning Policy, Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council, Hinckley Hub, Rugby Road, Hinckley, Leicestershire, LE10 0FR. Forms can be downloaded from the Rise for Ratby website and are available in both Word and PDF formats. If you need help or have any questions, please get in touch via the Rise for Ratby website

www.riseforratby.org.uk and please do not forget to register at the foot of the home page, you will receive regular updates and news direct to your email.

By way of further update, you may well have seen work being carried out on some of the fields, these are exploratory trenches that are part of the planning process to explore if there is anything historically significant hidden below ground level. These trenches will be filled back in within 5-7 days.
